Short Biography
Rıdvan Yamanoğlu is a faculty member in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kocaeli University. He received his BSc (2001), MSc (2005) and PhD (2011) degrees from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Kocaeli University.
He carried out part of his doctoral research at San Diego State University, USA, under the supervision of Dr. Randall M. German with a scholarship from the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). In 2014 he returned to the same university with a TÜBİTAK postdoctoral research fellowship to work with Dr. Randall M. German and Dr. Eugene Olevsky. He became an associate professor in 2017 and a full professor in 2023.
His research focuses on metal powder production by atomization, pressure-assisted sintering (hot pressing, spark plasma and microwave sintering), additive manufacturing, surface coatings and biomedical titanium alloys. He has led and contributed to projects funded by EUREKA, CORNET, ERA-NET, TÜBİTAK and TÜSEB.
He serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Mining and Metallurgy, Section B: Metallurgy, reviews for international journals and evaluates project proposals for the EUREKA and Innovation Fund Denmark programmes.
